A engineering research company in Northern Virginia is looking for a hands-on senior/ graduate student from Mechanical, Electrical or related Engineering major for an exciting mechanotronic project of national interests.
Required Skills:
• Advanced skill level in hands-on mechanical and electrical engineering.
• Excellent hands-on skills in instrumentation and electrical assembly are required to perform this task. Knowledge of instrumentation and electronics for sensors, transducers, actuators will be extremely important.
• Basic skills in mechanical and electrical design required to prepare and interpret drawings.
• Experience/ basic knowledge in engineering FEA software tools such as COMSOL, Ansys, FEMLAB, LabVIEW. The candidate should be willing and able to learn one or more of these software tools.
• Preferred: Knowledge of nondestructive tests, semiconductor manufacturing process, composites, and acoustics.
Duration for internship:
3-12 months starting Spring 2013 Semester.

Northern Virginia (40 miles south of Washington DC).
Responsibilities
Conduct research experiments or computer modeling/ simulations on acoustic/ vibration and ultrasonic propagation in composites and hybrid materials.
Requirements
US Citizen or ITER Compliant Permanent Resident (Green card holder)
Will consider part-time.
Must be enrolled in a degree program in mechanical/electrical/materials/instrumentation engineering, physical science or related field. Hands on experience/ inclination to perform experiments with acoustic, vibrations, electrical signals, and Materials engineering.
