Gathers patient registration and demographic information then inputs data to Practice management system at assigned work site on a consistent basis. Verifies insurance eligibility using EVS and other health insurance verification systems. Determines patient payment method and collects payments for every visit. Administers FHCB policies on determining eligibility for sliding fee scale.
Exhibits consistently “outstanding customer service skills” and promotes a standard of excellence in the performance of all duties and interactions with patients, co-workers, and outside contacts.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Obtains and updates patient registration and demographic information in practice management system.
Verifies health insurance eligibility on date of appointment using EVS and other health insurance verification systems.
Evaluates “all” patients for sliding fee eligibility; administers the sliding fee scale in accordance with FHCB policy and explains program to those patients.
Obtains patient’s email address and records in PMS.
Assures that 20% of all patients registered sign up for “Patient Portal” use.
Collects appropriate payment and co-payments prior to patient being seen for their appointment.
Provides counseling and payment plan setup to patients with unpaid balances as directed by supervisor.
Oversees patient waiting area to facilitate patient flow and to assure no more than 7 minutes waiting time to begin registration process.
Politely assists patients and other guests with locating the appropriate department or staff.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED equivalent with knowledge of sliding fee scale determinations.
Minimum one-year experience in medical office setting performing patient registration.
