Sonoco Protective Solutions has an immediate opportunity for a Quality Technicianfor our Portland, IN manufacturing plant. We're looking for a highly motivated individual with a strong commitment to Safety, Quality, strong work ethic, and excellent attendance record to join our team. Successful candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background checks

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Has the ability to be a good leader and uphold all of Sonoco’s rules & regulations

  • Analyze SPC date, customer feedbacks, in-house rejection, process capability data, for trends and continuous improvement

  • Conduct process capability studies as required

  • Analyze all customer feedbacks for trends and continuous improvement

  • Train plant personnel in GIQ quality system

  • Maintain customer property

  • Maintain process for document control

  • Gather data and report on Customer Satisfaction for plant

  • Assist in determining plant quality objectives

  • Act as ISO representative for plant and ensure ISO certifiable/certified status

  • Assist in managing supplier issues

  • Ensure processes needed for quality management system are established, implemented and maintained

  • Facilitate improvement/corrective action teams

  • Active involvement in GIQ activities including regional staff and review meetings and other required activities

REQUIREMENTS

  • Preferred associate’s degree or 2 yrs college

  • Candidate must be detailed orientated and have excellent communication skills

  • Must have good knowledge, be consistent and accurate in filling out appropriate paperwork

  • Must have knowledge of customer quality requirements, computer knowledge/skills

  • High sense of urgency and good follow-up skills—can work with little supervision

  • Able to handle multiple tasks on a daily basis by use of priorities

  • Ability to instruct others, lead and use good judgment

  • Experience with calibration & operation of test equipment, root cause/corrective action skills

  • Excellent math & statistics skills; perform other duties as required
