Description

The Graphic Design intern will be involved in a number of activities supporting the Office of Community Relations & Development, working closely with the Director. He or she will gain firsthand experience designing print marketing materials that promote public education and student achievement as well as develop ads for sponsors of the District in the District newsletter and calendar. The culminating event will include a field trip/tour of a printing press company to view the calendar cover on the printing press and to learn how the printing process brings projects to life for its clients.

Responsibilities

1.Design the District’s printed calendar around a theme and lay out ads from vendor sponsorships. At the end of the summer, intern will have a professionally printed 36-page full color piece for their portfolio. 2.Design the District’s summer newsletter. 3.Design invitations for Foundation events, greeting cards, and alumni outreach mail pieces and posters. 4.Update design of the Parkland High School annual report. 5.Support administrative efforts including database management, copying, filing, and archiving.

Requirements

1.Proficient in Adobe’s Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. 2.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 3.Ability to prioritize multiple projects. 4.Ability to handle information in a confidential, objective and professional manner. 5.Ability to work a minimum of 10-12 hours per week in the office (between the hours of 8 AM and 4 PM, Monday - Friday).
