Description
As a summer 2013 communications intern for Volunteen Nation.org, students will work with youth, other interns and professionals to generate ideas to promote the national organization. Interns will communicate with diverse non-profit organizations nationally, collaborate with the team to achieve national expansion goals, assist in generating press releases, work with others to create newsletters and will write two blog entries every week. Responsibilities
- Write effective copy, excelling in correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
- Use alternate forms of communication (including graphic arts), resulting in improved interactions.
- Edit and proof other team members work and provide constructive feedback
- Adding youth volunteer opportunities to the site from organizations across the country
- Blogging twice a week about volunteer opportunities, scholarships and grants
- Conducting research and maintaining a portfolio of marketing ideas
- Working closely with the team and updating everyone in the network
- Developing and managing marketing strategies
Requirements
- Possess skills at initiating innovative ideas, unifying team members, and judging correctly what will appeal to target audiences.
- Prefer challenges that involve communication, are people-oriented, promote networking and socializing, and include roles that call for imagination.
