CharacterGrades.com is a web-based start-up that evaluates character development in scripted television through comedy writing. The site is run out of New York City and our staff is composed primarily of writers who work in the television and entertainment industry.
This is a remote, unpaid, part-time position. The Junior Writer would also have the opportunity to author content for the site with a byline. The hours and responsibilities at this position are very flexible and is a tremendous opportunity to gain exposure if you're interested in breaking into the industry.

ResponsibilitiesThe Junior Writer would help with, and in some cases, manage day-to-day production. This includes working on the backend of the website's CMS and coordinating with the larger team of writers. The Junior Writer will manage the production schedule, update shared calendars, communicate deadlines and track assignments for 15+ freelance writers.
- Manage formatting and processing a database of old, evergreen content.
- Aid in making work visually engaging by photoshopping funny posts and adding dynamic images.
- Create evergreen content. Junior Writer will have the opportunity to write comedy pieces, as well as pitch ideas.
You're a college student looking to get your foot in the door in digital journalism and the NYC media scene. You're tech-savvy, full of good ideas and can work well independently. The ideal candidate should be digital savvy with experience working with web CMS (we use Drupal), editing, photoshop and humor writing. The candidate should have access to a computer and email throughout the day.
