DescriptionWe are Improbable Comedy! We are a small production company focused on live, stand-up comedy and improv. We started here in Silver Spring, then took our shows overseas (to Rio for the Olympics!) now we are bringing it home. We are looking for a production intern to help us plan an amazing debut! This will include: scouting venues, checking out talent, mapping out a production plan.
We are offering a six month internship but are flexible with dates. For the planning period, you will work virtually but will need to be available to scope out venues/talent in the Washington DC or Baltimore area (we will cover the travel and entrance fee for any shows you see). We will meet or talk often to make sure you are learning and growing. On the nights of the shows (spring 2017), you will need to be available on site for about 4 hours in the evening (you will have ample notice for this).
Being detail oriented helps, as does having some love of event planning and management. The work will be fun, sometimes detail oriented and there is lots of room for your good ideas and organizational skills. Of course, it doesn't hurt if you love comedy BUT it's not a requirement!
Responsibilities- Lend support to the overall concept and brand development.
- Scout potential venues for show (in Montgomery County)
- Attend area open mics and comedy shows to view local talent.
Create written summaries of venues and performers for review.
-(optional): Draw up and negotiate contracts with talent, venues.
-(optional): Participate in presentations to companies when soliciting sponsorships.
Requirements-Excellent production or event management skills
-Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Be detail oriented and hard-working.
