Connections

Description

The Mental Health Association of Central Florida is a non-profit organization that aims to provide mental health services, support and information to the members of our Central Florida community. Our Connection Specialists/Clerical Interns field all incoming calls, complete referrals, research resources for consumers, educate the community about mental health, connect individuals to resources, provide support to the community, and more.

Our Fall internship is a semester-long commitment and runs from August 18, 2014-January 9, 2015. Each intern works a minimum of 2 4-hour shifts per week. Prior to beginning, newly hired interns are expected to complete 2 shadow shifts and attend a mandatory intern training.

Responsibilities

Interns answer all incoming calls, complete referrals, research our database of nearly 1100 providers in the Central Florida area to find resources that best fit what the consumer is looking for, provide resources to the callers, maintain databases, data entry, miscellaneous intern projects, community outreach, attend community events, and more.

Requirements

We value individuals who possess strong communication skills and are detail oriented, professional, passionate, and eager to learn. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. A background of interest in psychology is usually quite beneficial to the position. Strong candidates will have previous experience with professional communication skills, phone and email, taking messages, and working in an office environment. No previous experience is mandatory.
