DescriptionDynamic,Refreshing, Engaging and Innovative are all key words that exemplify what an internship experience should be. Since 1806, Graham Windham has been a leading force in the Child Welfare industry providing a myriad of programs that seek to provide the best services for include a Residential Treatment Center, Manhattan Mental Health Clinic, Youth & Career Development Services, Case Planning, etc.
Our organization employs close to 700 team members who serve as the foundation for our client and staff support programs, which currently include the following:
-Family Permanency and Planning Services
-Family Community & Support Services
-Staff Development & Training
-Administration and Support Services
Our focus is to “provide a Graham Windham way in all that we do” by accomplishing two distinct vision goals revolving around "Family and Youth Success." The Family Success Vision Goal focuses on ensuring all of the children in our care have a safe, loving and permanent family by actively practicing a unique blend of psycho-therapeutic models including but not limited to: Solutions-Based Casework (SBC), Network and Brief Strategic Family Therapy models. In fact, Graham was the first organization in New York City to adopt and consistently support a large portion of our staff in obtaining their SBC Certifications. Meanwhile, our Youth Success Vision Goal focuses on ensuring that the youth in our care are prepared, supported and provided the opportunity to thrive into adulthood. It is because of this goal, that we have implemented a number of innovative programs such as Graham SLAM, College Crew and Bengals Leadership to assist our youth in believing that they, too, can graduate high school, live independently and have the opportunity to advance their education. In fact, all of our high school graduates will enter a post-secondary program, and 85-100% will complete a Bachelor’s, Associate’s or Industry-recognized vocational credential.
One of the things that is unique about Graham is that we are on the cutting-edge of Child Welfare. With a progressive point of view-this is truly an agency where the leaders of tomorrow can build their skills, strengthen their focus and advance the field of human services. Based on our outcomes data:
-Graham is ranked as one of the top four in the city in all of our programs (ACS Rankings)
-Our re-entry rates were ⅓ lower than the NYC system re-entry rates
-In community foster care, rates of aging out decreased substantially in fiscal year 2015 for youth who entered our care before age 16 (43% in FY15)
-We grew from coaching 50 youth in NYC to close to 200 youth in just 1 year. (based on our -Graham SLAM college, vocational and care
-Started a Pen Pals Program with the case of Hamilton: The Musical last December
-and so much more.
The proof of our passion, commitment and dedication to our youth and families is definitely seen in our outcomes.
