Job Description: This position will work to seek support from, and work directly with, organizations and individuals in the local community to build strong partnerships. These partnerships provide assistance to families in need of social services. This internship presents an opportunity for students pursuing a graduate degree to obtain hours for their practicum. Applicants should be in graduate school or post-graduates looking for a field placement/practicum, and be on an MFT or MSW track or related field – if post-graduate, need to be registered with the BBS and have an intern number.

Time Commitment:
• Hours of operation are Monday-Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with some evenings and weekends
• Must be available on either M/W/F/ from 3-6 pm
• Must be available to work approximately 30-40 hours per week during the summer (June – September)
• Must be available to work approximately 15-20 hours per week during the academic year
• This internship is 4 months long and is renewable pending performance review

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
• Work directly with and assist the Program Director
• Serves as a site coordinator for each Homework Hotspot location
• Provide direct counseling/therapy services. Including family counseling, group counseling, child and adult counseling.
• Organize/schedule workshop presentations
• Assess, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for all clients assigned to caseload
• Asses and refer clients to supportive services to supplement treatment and counseling
• Participate in group and individual supervision
• Work closely with staff to provide a safe and supportive environment for the delivery of programs and services
• Undertake promotional activities in the community to support the growth of the program
• Develop and facilitate relationships with community stakeholders to assist with building support for programs and services
• Analyze needs of clients and recommend appropriate resources and referrals
• Meet and greet potential clients who are in need
• Participate in funding campaigns and special events
• Assist in development and facilitation of workshops and service programs
• Perform administrative tasks related to community outreach
• Comply with County Mental Health MediCal contract documentation, auditing standards and requirements in a timely manner
• Maintain client records and complete all agency and/or third party payer required reports and paperwork

Requirements

Requirements:
• MFT/MSW Trainee or Intern
• Intern registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences
• Experience in Human Services, Social Services, Psychology or related fields
• Strong personal integrity and ethical principles
• Excellent time management and organization skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent listener
• Ability to motivate and encourage others
• Ability to demonstrate patience and empathy
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others
• Willing to help others
• If hired, you will be required to become a mandated reporter
