Endometriosis Foundation of America
DescriptionThe Endometriosis Foundation of America (EFA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to combating endometriosis, a debilitating reproductive disease that affects one in ten women of childbearing age in the United States. Founded by Tamer Seckin, MD and Padma Lakshmi, the EFA’s initiatives support its mission by focusing on advocacy, funding targeted research, educating medical professionals, and increasing disease awareness among the general public.
The EFA seeks an Education and Outreach intern for each of the following geographic areas: Western New York, Southern Tier, Rochester, Syracuse, Long Island, NYC, Westchester/Rockland counties and the Capital District/ Hudson Valley. Each intern will be part of the Endometriosis Promoting Outreach and Wide Recognition (ENPOWR) Project. This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical public health experience, to help shape an evolving program, and to address the critical unmet need related to endometriosis awareness. The interns will help expand The ENPOWR Project’s footprint in New York State through involvement in the development of a train-the-trainer component, collection and analysis of M&E data, and on-site program implementation through educational presentations.
Each intern must be passionate about reproductive and/or women’s health issues, as well as work well with adolescent populations. Each intern will be required to collaborate virtually and to travel throughout his or her local area as needed for presentations. Scheduling and hours are flexible.
