Description

The Alzheimer's Association provides free support services to families caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's disease or other types of dementia. We provide counseling, support groups, education to families, increase community awareness at health fairs and by providing education in the community. Our local office provides support services for 11 counties in NE Alabama. We are located in the medical district of Huntsville.

Responsibilities

Intern responsibilities include various office tasks such as mailings, data entry, answering phones, and some assistance in event planning. In addition, a big focus for this internship will be assisting with health fairs and public speaking at churches and other venues on the weekends as requested. Training will be provided. Mileage will be reimbursed. Other hours can be completed during the week.

Requirements

Intern must be in the process of working on their B.S. in public health, counseling, health education, social work, psychology or related field. Must have transportation. Hours are during the week are between 9am-5pm, however focus is on the weekends. Must be available 2 weekends a month, usually for 2-3 hours. Must be comfortable with public speaking. Must be comfortable offering various presentations at a variety of types of local churches and other venues in the community.
