Our Adult Day Center, located in Dickson City, PA on Business Route 6, is a program that provides activities for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Program participants engage in a wide variety of activities including, but not limited to skill development, pre-vocational training, healthy living activities, healthy physical activities, bowling, shopping, as well as working on specific goals. Many arts and crafts projects are included. This program is licensed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare.
ResponsibilitiesSpecific Duties and Responsibilities :
-Maintain a pleasant and appropriate program environment.
-Under the direction of the Program Supervisor, helps ensure compliance with the 2380 Regulations.
-Assists individuals in reaching the highest level of independence in all areas.
-Conduct a variety of recreational, social and leisure activities for constructive use of time by the individuals.
-Observe all physical, emotional and behavioral concerns and take appropriate action when necessary.
-Respond to emergency situations in an appropriate manner that ensures the safety of the individuals.
-Interacts with program participants in a kind and encouraging manner.
-Maintain a clean and secure environment.
-Provide a sympathetic and understanding environment for dealing with individuals changes in behavior; likes, dislikes, etc.
-Provides transportation as needed.
-Participates in in-service training as required and as necessary.
-Display a professional attitude and appearance at all times.
-Provide direct care as necessary. This may include some lifting, transferring, toileting, etc. of individuals.
-Cooperate fully and honestly in any investigation conducted by our agency, county officials or state officials.
-Participates in any agency inspection.
-Follow all the regulations of the program.
-Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or his/her designee.
-Adhere to all Goodwill Industries policies and procedures.
Essential Functions :
-Must posses an updated, valid Driver License.
-Must be able to assist participants with their goals.
-Must be able to stand for the majority of the shift.
-Must be able to complete all cleaning tasks, such as vacuuming, mopping, etc.
Job Specifications :
-Must have a high school diploma or GED.
-Must be at least 18 years of age.
-Must possess a valid Pennsylvania’s driver’s license.
-Must be able and willing to drive a van.
-Upon offer of employment, must pass a physical examination that includes a Mantoux test.
-Must receive CPR/First Aid training within six (6) months after initial employment.
-Must remain eligible after a Criminal Background and Child Abuse clearance.
Hours: Schedule will be decided at time of hire and detailed on the Statement of Confirmation form, however, work hours are always subject to change based on the needs of the program and the number of clients being served. Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, first shift, not to exceed 30 hours per week.
