DescriptionThe Neighborhood Connections office is part of the City of Pasadena’s Department of Human Services and Recreation. It was established in 1987 to promote better communication between the residents and government of the city. The office of the Neighborhood Connections provides free information and support to encourage neighbors to work together to get access to the departments in the city, to build better neighborhoods through neighborhood organizations.
The Neighborhood Connections office accepts applications year-round to work in our office. Students in college as well as high school juniors and seniors are encouraged to apply.
NCS INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
The NCS (Neighborhood Connections Staff) Internship Program is an interpersonal experience provided by the Human Services and Recreation office of Neighborhood Connections. The NCS Internship Program affords eligible students with a unique opportunity to gain meaningful and practical abilities through neighborhood outreach and resourcing.
The NCS Internship Program is designed to provide enthusiastic students with the following opportunities:
* Learn and practice responsibility, professionalism and other necessary work-related skills;
* Experience a fast paced/ urban workplace
* Interact with community leaders, elected officials and staff from various city departments
* Develop meaningful relationships with the community and City of Pasadena Staff
The objective of the NCS Internship is to provide young adults with an environment that will aid in their growth as professionals as well expand their capabilities to interact confidently with community leaders, residents and elected officials. NCS Interns will enhance their writing skills, overall knowledge of Microsoft Office, and time management abilities. Interns will be provided with meaningful experiences and responsibilities, to enrich their understanding of the workforce.
Responsibilities•Assist with the production of materials for Neighborhood Connections office, including weekly newsletter, monthly meeting documentation, program literature, and updating of program information
•Develop and update literature and databases as needed (eg: fliers, google docs , neighborhood association maps)
•Provide informed input on community activities, events, panels, commission events, and promotional office materials.
•Other duties as assigned
