Produce Market Intern (Summer 2014) Monday-Friday 15-20 hours per week -- Nonpaid

Summary
The Centers for Families and Children is an organization dedicated to improving the lives of families in Cleveland; and every year we serve over 20,000 people. Our team is composed of diverse and passionate individuals who want to make a positive impact in the Cleveland Community. As a Mobile Pantry Intern, you will be working with the Volunteer Engagement staff, other interns, community volunteers, the Cleveland Food Bank and other community partners at our outdoor markets which are held at several of our locations. This internship position reports to the Volunteer Coordinator.

Responsibilities

•Use time management and organizational skills to plan & market approximately 20 Mobile Pantries
•Manage the distribution of free healthy food to our clients and the surrounding community
•Assist with set up and tear down of markets
•Recruit 15-20 corporate & community volunteers for each market
•Use creative abilities to publicize markets to clients and staff
•Work with community partners to organize food demonstrations, cookbooks, health workshops, etc…
•Track data for each market
•Research and network with community partners willing to accept leftover produce
•Other related duties as assigned

Requirements

•Junior, Senior or Graduate level students majoring in Public Health, Urban Planning, Special Event Planning, Human Services, Volunteer Management, Community Health or related fields
•Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite
•Should possess good coordination/planning skills and creative ability
•High energy/positive attitude; Ability to Multi-Task; Strong self-direction and initiative; Multicultural sensitivity
•Must work effectively and professionally with diverse groups, all levels of staff within organization, and the public
•Excellent interpersonal skills and effective oral and written communication skills required

Time Commitment
M-F 15-20 hours per week, flexible office hours. Must be available during times markets are scheduled.
