DescriptionThe dual mission is to help businesses and organizations of all sizes to create successful, profitable, and easy-to-manage internship programs by recruiting, screening, intern-viewing, and placing interns. Also to create exciting, high-level, career-building internship opportunities for interns. (We also provide consulting and public speaking services.)
ResponsibilitiesPRIMARY PROJECT/TASKS. The primary projects and tasks associated with this internship include (but are not limited to): Write and submit press releases to online and offline sources, create a press kit and/or press page on the website, contact and follow up with the media to get stories and articles to run, set up and manage media interviews, maintain a press book – clippings and links to all press for the organization and communicating it to our Social Media Mavens, research new media opportunities, secure placement in magazines, radio, television, online blogs and newspapers, and submit ideas to www.helpareporter.com and www.reporterconnection.com; etc.

You will work directly with the Co-founder and get the inside, behind-the-scenes view of a start-up, virtual, national/international company. You will have access to a variety of training materials on sales, marketing, internship program management, and other topics, worth thousands of dollars. Successful interns will receive a top-notch letter of recommendation. In addition, we will gladly help you arrange for academic credit.
Location: This internship is virtual. You will work from home (or school, or Starbucks, or the library…or wherever). You can work anywhere as long as you have reliable internet connection and a quiet area for Skype meetings.
Timeline: Immediately! Approximately 10 hours a week for 15 weeks; we are flexible and your internship is negotiable. We will work with you.
This is an unpaid internship, but the experience is priceless!
This is a learning environment, we don't expect you to know everything! Applicants with prior educational and/or work experience in PR are preferred, but WE WILL TRAIN THE RIGHT PERSON who is enthusiastic, dedicated, and willing to learn.
Skills and abilities: Knowledge of public relations principles, comfort and proficiency with technology, including email, the Internet, and learning user-friendly software; organized, excellent verbal and written communication skills, adaptable to changes in projects and priorities; able to multitask and work independently; reliable, punctual, and able to attend Skype meetings once or twice a week (we will work with your schedule).
