DescriptionI'm recruiting interns with Public Relations career aspirations on behalf of my client Anonymous Good, a non-profit startup launching an interactive website/community and mobile apps Dec 31. I need strong communicators with an interest in both traditional PR strategy and skills and the strategic use of social media.
Since the company is not yet public, I would prefer to disclose details about the structure and focus during the interview process.
I am looking for interns who will work from home remotely for an average of 10 unscheduled hours/week for a period of 6 months. Interns can be located anywhere in the world, as long as they have a strong mastery of the English language for both written and spoken communications and can be available for meetings set based on our headquarters' Pacific time zone.
Monetary compensation is not available at this time, but it is our sincere hope to be able to offer something by the end of the internship period. Although we cannot guarantee that at this time, and although we cannot guarantee advancement to a paid staff position, our goal is to be able to reward our high-performing interns with one or both. College credit is available if desired.
This internship is available as early as December 1, and we will consider candidates for later start dates until our needs are met. We will also work to tailor our interns' duties to their interests, strengths and career aspirations.
Interns will be included and instructed in the process of creating an effective multi-media public relations strategy and integral in the execution of that strategy. We expect this experience to be mutually beneficial, providing our interns with real-world skills and relationships that will pave the way for future job opportunities.
ResponsibilitiesInterns will learn to use WordPress software, social media management software, and any social tools they do not already know how to use. They will also learn how to use all of the above strategically. They will receive writing instruction for PR and AP styles as-needed.
Interns will be contributing to our database of press contacts (especially in the blogosphere) and key online influencers; participating in and promoting the Anonymous Good community and its activities; drafting and distributing media communications; managing databases of strategic contacts and site content; writing original articles for the Anonymous Good blog; using social media management software to update social profiles and monitor audience metrics; participating in PR strategy development; and drafting content for the Anonymous Good website.
Because this is a new non-profit and a new internship program, the internships will evolve over the course of the 6 month timeframe. There will be a degree of flexibility and customization available to our first generation of interns that may not be available to future interns.
RequirementsStrong writing skills are a must.
We prefer applicants who are studying Public Relations, but we will consider Marketing, Journalism and Communications students.
Applicants must have access to their own computers and a reliable internet connection.
English fluency is required, additional languages are a plus.
