Description

The Brockton Rox are seeking an individual to assist in the team's public and media relations for the summer. This individual will be primarily writing stories about the Rox team and updating the Rox website with new and exciting content. This individual will also assist the Rox PA Announcer keeping the official score during home games. The public relations intern will serve under the close supervision of Assistant General Manager, Kate Thomas.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:
-The Website and Public Relations intern will report directly to the Assistant GM
-Write or otherwise assist with the creation of new content for BrocktonRox.com each day (including game previews and post-game recaps)
-Assist with creation of nightly game scripts for the Public Address Announcer
-Create unique content for each home game that will go into the Rox game day program insert
-Learn official scoring software and schedule official scorer's to cover each game (previous knowledge of scoring a baseball game required)
-Help assist local media outlets with interview and feature story requests, including television, radio, print, and bloggers
-Assist in the generation of content for social media distribution
-Capture and edit video to be utilized on our website and social media channels

Requirements

Top Candidates will demonstrate:
-Exemplary writing and proofreading ability
-Video editing experience is a plus
-Familiarity with updating a website, such as experience with Wordpress or other content management systems
-Previous familiarity with sports writing style and convention is a plus
-Ability to read a baseball official scorer's report and understand the symbols (Ability to score a game is a plus)
-Ability to adapt on the fly in a fast-paced environment
-Be capable of taking direction, including constructive criticism, to complete assigned tasks under direct supervision
-Uninterrupted availability from late May to mid August
