JL Media PR is a full service publicity boutique specializing in television, film and music campaigns; red carpet premieres; and special events. By combining its relationships with urban and mainstream media outlets, JL Media PR is able to create exposure to its client base. The publicists at JL Media PR are known for their ability to facilitate mainstream, gospel and urban media cross-over campaigns. Associates at JL Media PR are knowledgeable of current market and cultural trends and understand how to analyze opportunities to increase exposure for its client base.


General Duties
• Research coverage and create media clippings, reports
• Research information and media contacts; maintain databases
• Compile and distribute press kits
• Answer phones, file papers, and perform other general administrative duties
• Sit in on meetings, record notes and participate in brainstorm sessions
• Assist with and attend special events
• Filing & copying
• Meeting notes as needed
• Assist on field photo shoots or offsite meetings ( escorting talent, facilitating green rooms, getting release forms signed, etc)
• Compile research from trade magazines
• Update agency/client contact lists
• Reading trade magazines, websites, etc. on a regular basis, reporting any pertinent entertainment news; conduct research
• Conduct media outreach and media information distribution
• Ability to interact with executives, celebrities and vendors confidently and professionally

Social Media
• Monitor and post on blogs, forums, and social networks
• Online outreach and promotion using Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and more
• Website and social media coverage research and reporting

Special Events
• Event brainstorming and concept development
• Logistics planning and research
• Event Setup and on-site duties on event days/nights as needed
• Post-event follow up and report generation

Upon learning “industry” phone protocol, interns are expected to “sit a desk” and occasionally fully support an executive. With a satisfactory work performance, interns may also be invited to attend red carpet events, industry networking events, movie screenings and premieres.


• You MUST receive academic credit
• You MUST be a college undergraduate, graduate student or be in a Technical School Program. This opportunity is not open to High School Students.
• You MUST agree to at least a sixteen (16) week internship
• You must have reliable transportation or access to the metro line

• Must have excellent writing and communication skills.
• Self starter who can take direction and work independently
• Possess a strong interest in a communications/public relations
• Able to commit minimum 15 hrs weekly
• Creative with the ability to contribute to group think activities
• Internet and research savvy; strong computer skills; strong familiarity with social media/networking sites
• Preferred Majors – Communications/Public Relations, Journalism, English, Marketing, Web Development/Design
• Must possess strong organizational skills, writing ability and effective telephone manner
• Must be a team player and be prepared to work in a dynamic fast-paced environment
• Must be able to speak clearly and confidently
• Must understand that no job is too small
