Mission: A Global Voice for Autism exists to help children with autism in conflict-affected communities communicate independently.
We do this in three ways:
1) Private and community-based parent training sessions that teach evidence-based (Applied Behavior Analysis) practices to help parents support their children with autism. Our community-based programs help parents create cooperatives where they meet weekly to provide therapy to each other's children.
2) Parent and sibling peer support groups that teach strategies for supporting a family member with autism.
3) Community education initiatives that promote available community resources and aim to reduce stigma surrounding autism in the communities in which we work.
Responsibilities-Assist with the day-to-day tasks in the A Global Voice for Autism office ie. fundraising calls, proposal-writing, grant identification
-Design games and activities to be used in sibling support programs
-Write and send out press releases to local newspapers
-Write letters to donors
-Assist Executive Director with content creation and hiring
RequirementsThis is a Minneapolis-based position. You MUST live in the Minneapolis area and have regular transportation to our headquarters in Plymouth, MN. You will also have opportunities to take part in our Minneapolis programs.
-Live in the Twin Cities area
-Strong written and verbal communication skills
-Background with autism is a plus
-Have a love of learning and be flexible
-Work side by side with the executive director of a non-profit
-Make an impact around the world
-Get consistent supervision and feedback-possibilities for Letters of Recommendation and references
-Network with important community stakeholders
-Communicate with international entrepreneurs, investors and changemakers
