Job Description: An exciting internship at a boutique pr firm with outstanding clients in the restaurant and lifestyle worlds. This is a fantastic learning opportunity for someone who is passionate about food and interested in gaining hands-on experience in pr. We are seeking smart, hard-working, enthusiastic, and organized PR Interns to join our team. The ideal candidate would be a food studies, communications or marketing major. This internship would be for school credit. Hours are flexible, but ideally 9-6:30 M-F.

Based in New York City, MLC is a boutique PR and marketing firm with a focus on food, wine, health/wellness, travel and other lifestyle brands. MLC’s services include communications strategy, publicity, social media, branding, online marketing, promotions, marketing collateral, events, partnerships, and more. We are passionate about what we do, and take great care in doing the highest quality work for our clients. Current clients include Counter Culture Coffee, Mouth, Eli Zabar’s, il Buco and il Buco Alimentari, Melvin’s Juice Box, Miss Lily’s, Bien Cuit, Egg, Bronwyn and TW Food in Boston, Almanac, Mas (farmhouse), Sustain, Fleisher’s Craft Butchery, Rockhouse Hotel, Cookies for Kids Cancer, Edible Schoolyard and reCrib. Our team has developed excellent, close relationships with the media, and has a great understanding for how the media works, as well as a keen ability for how to tell stories. MLC was founded in 2011 by Michelle Lehmann, who was formerly the Director of PR and Marketing of Danny Meyer's restaurant group, Union Square Hospitality Group, and, before that, the PR Director for Zagat. We are located in a great loft space in the West Village.

Responsibilities

Internship responsibilities include:
Creation and organization of media lists and press contacts
Management of press clippings both digital and hard-copy
Monitoring media to identify coverage of MLC clients and industry trends
Aiding in creation of weekly press and status reports
Coordinating media requests
Attending photo or video shoots
Pitching select stories
Overseeing photo databases
Researching various topics as needed

Requirements

Qualifications: Great writer and communicator, multi-tasker, very organized, solid work ethic, positive and warm attitude, enthusiastic, interest in food and lifestyle brands, passionate about his/her work, works well with others, independent and self-motivated, willing to take on any task, wants to have fun at their workplace every day.
