Public Relations Agent
This internship is virtual. You will work from home (or school, or Starbucks, or the library…or wherever). You can work anywhere as long as you have reliable internet connection and a quiet area for Skype meetings.
In addition to receiving high-level skills and experience that will forward your career goals and immediately increase your prospects for higher-paying, more rewarding jobs, you will also receive mentoring on your resume, interviewing skills, and professional goals. Any work that is not confidential can be added to your professional portfolio. You will work directly with the PR Team and the team supervisor. You will also have frequent input and communications with the Founder of our company and get the inside, behind-the-scenes view of a start-up, virtual, national/international company. You will have access to a variety of training materials on sales, marketing, internship program management, and other topics, worth thousands of dollars. Successful interns will receive a top-notch letter of recommendation and referrals to important business and employment contacts. In addition, we will gladly help you arrange for academic credit.
This is an unpaid internship, but the experience is priceless!
ResponsibilitiesAs a PR Agent, you will be focused on “The Price of Business” (www.PriceofBusiness.com) a media outlet which is located at the home of Bloomberg Radio News in the 4th largest market in America, Houston TX. “The Price of Business” is a media outlet which includes online media, live radio show and a multi social media presence of over 625,000 unique visitors a month. Our Founder, Super Julie Braun is a co-host and contributor to “The Price of Business.” As our PR Agent, you will be assisting our PR Team in lining up article contributors and radio show guests.
You will also be on a team, which may be responsible for, but are not limited to the following:
Reaching out to contributors and getting articles written about their businesses or “for purpose” organizations; edit and post articles; follow up with the contributors with their article links and next steps; schedule interviews with Super Julie Braun to see if they are right for our radio show, “The Price of Business” or other media opportunities. You will help us refine our PR Agent process.
This is a learning environment so we don't expect you to know everything! Applicants with prior educational and/or work experience in PR are preferred, but WE WILL TRAIN THE RIGHT PERSON who is enthusiastic, dedicated, and willing to learn. Candidate must show an interest in all aspects of the media and be comfortable having conversations with anyone. Being able to listen is just as important as being able to speak. If you want to be a PR Agent someday, this internship will give you that experience!
Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of public relations principles, excellent verbal and written communication skills, comfort and proficiency with technology, including email, the Internet, and learning user-friendly software; organized, adaptable to changes in projects and priorities; able to multi-task and work independently; reliable, punctual, and able to attend Skype meetings once or twice a week (we will work with your schedule), and able to attend at least 5 company team meetings.
You will need reliable access to an Internet connection, your own computer, Skype, and phone.
Students and NON-STUDENTS of any age (over 18) and those transitioning into (or building upon) a social media career are welcome to apply.
