Delaware Peace Club, a grassroots not-for-profit handling a variety of social issues, is looking for an intern interested in learning all aspects of the corporate nonprofit public relations field. The intern who fills this position should expect to learn the field from top to bottom, as it relates to the branding of a new nonprofit organization. They will end this program with 12 months of experience honing skills they can use in future endeavors within the public relations sector.

Our organization utilizes a self-sustainable business model to stimulate economic growth in disadvantaged communities by providing essential services, vocational training, and jobs for our targeted population. Our materials are used to publicize the unknown issues that our target demographic usually faces alone.

It's essential that applicants to this position have excellent communication skills, demonstrate creativity, and understand the importance of attending to even the smallest details. We can assign your hours to the President’s Volunteer Award Program. Our ideal intern is a team-player who can take directions, ask questions in unknown situations, and has a fantastic work ethic combined with self-motivation.


Oversee all forms of media
Schedule and coordinate speaking engagements, appearances, photo shoots, and other special events
Write and proofread press releases and other materials
Screen phone calls
Assist with mailings, print production, and occasionally prepare posts for our website/blog
Create interview preparation materials
Compile contact lists
Search for press clippings
Create or update databases
Greet guests and clients

This position requires 3-5 hours per week, for 12 months. Roughly 3 hours each week will be in-office near Ursuline Academy in Wilmington, DE. We may consider virtual positions with video conferencing in place of in-office hours.


Students applying for this internship must have strong communication skills and should be majoring in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or Journalism.

We are looking to gain insight into you as a person—your writing talents, your interests, and your ability to successfully transition into our organization. Applicants should also have strong writing skills, as well as a solid understanding of social media. Only interns proficient with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications should apply.

Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, and other various majors may be considered on an individual basis
