DescriptionUnder the direction and general supervision of the CEO, the Public Relations & Communications Coordinator will assist with communicating all organizational related information.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Work both inside AND outside the office environment promoting the goals and mission of the company;
Attends and/or arranges for public-contact programs (networking events) designed to meet the organization's objectives, utilizing knowledge of changing attitudes and opinions of consumers, clients, employees, etc;
Write a variety of communications materials: press releases, newsletters, website content, fact sheets, news articles, media pitches, employee messages, PowerPoint slides, speeches, letters, customer communications;
Oversees the company's branding through logo use and print materials;
Assist with fundraising, and plans, organizes and holds events for the organization;
Arranges speaking engagements; plans and presents meetings, conventions, and fundraising initiatives as needed;
Promotes goodwill through such publicity efforts as speeches, exhibits, tours, and/or questions-answer sessions with interested third party vendors;
Researches data, create ideas, write copy, lay out artwork, contact media representatives, and/or represent CEO and/or organization directly before general public or businesses;
Skills needed to perform the duties of Public Relations Coordinator:
Excellent writing and speaking skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills, organized, deadline-oriented, creative, persuasive, social perceptiveness, critical thinking, judgment and decision making, active learning, monitoring, negotiation, complex problem solving, and management of personnel resources.
Minimum two years of PR experience working in communications, public relations; background in print or broadcast journalism, speechwriter, graphic design and/or desktop publishing is highly desirable, including contact with the public or large businesses.
College degree from a college/university (OR equivalent education experience) in communications, public relations, journalism or marketing; a strong background in the liberal arts is desirable, but college courses in business, public speaking, psychology and/or advertising are also beneficial.

Licenses/Certificates/Special Requirements: Valid NYS Driver's License
Working Conditions: Complex office environment; subject to frequent interruptions and continual deadlines; must be willing to handle calmly and collectively.
Compensation: Competitive, based on education and experience. Ideal position for entry level!
