Description

As an important member of the Finance Department, the HQ Finance Intern will be provided ongoing training through individual meetings and question and answer sessions that will cover Action Against Hunger accounting and process, as well as general accounting profession questions and issues.

This is a paid internship with a daily lunch reimbursement.

Responsibilities

Key activities
1. Accounts Payable

Gathering of American Express receipts and posts into the AP sub-ledger.
Analysis of any old or credit items in vendor accounts.
Application and reconciliation of entries.
Undertakes AP filing, archiving and document management.
2. Contribute to the HQ accounts

Posting of recurring or cost reallocation journals as required.
Recording of bank transactions and complete any assigned reconciliations.
Checks consistency of accounting codes in the monthly accounts.
3. Support to HQ finance team

Preparing monthly balance sheet reconciliations for assigned accounts.
Learns how to check the analytical allocation of expenses in monthly accounts.
4. Participation in Department projects

Contributes to maintain a reliable archiving of documents under NY office server.
Assist Finance Controller for updating of procedural documentation on departmental processes.
Contributes to the implementation of Sharepoint for finance department.
Review of existing spreadsheet usage for efficiency and accuracy

Requirements

Do you meet the profile required criteria ?
Graduate or senior-level undergraduate students pursuing a profession in the field of finance or accounting (CPA and/or CFO career path) may apply for this position
Great attention to detail, enthusiasm, and desire to be a team player
Knowledge of MS Office Suite and in particular Excel advanced formulas
Strong computer skills and an ability to learn new software quickly, knowledge of Navigator is a plus
Strong organizational and analytical skills
Excellent written and spoken English
