DescriptionFeminist Press is currently looking for dynamic, talented, and hardworking interns. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, eager to learn, and passionate about contributing to our mission of creating books that promote freedom of expression and social justice.
We are an independent, nonprofit publishing house based in Manhattan with a small, dedicated staff. We publish exciting authors who share an activist spirit and a belief in choice and equality.
Interns will work closely with mentors in one of the following departments: Editorial, Publicity/Marketing, and Development; sharing administrative responsibilities.
Former FP interns are now at Simon & Schuster, Penguin/Random House, W.W. Norton & Company, Oxford University Press, Verso Books, Signs: Journal of Women and Culture, Women Make Movies, On the Issues, the Nation, and others.
The spring 2017 internship begins January 9, 2017, and runs through May 26, 2017. The internship requires a commitment of three days a week, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Although we are flexible with schedules, we do ask for a consistent weekly time commitment. Interns will receive a small daily stipend to offset the cost of transportation within New York City.
Deadline to apply is November 1, 2016.
Please indicate in your cover letter why you’d like to intern at the press and which department you are most interested in and why you would be a strong fit. Also be sure to include your availability.
