Description

Internship in College Point, NY in an administrative office of a Real Estate Broker. This location does not have clients coming to transact Real Estate transactions, but does the bookkeeping, management, and technology work for this business. Clients do not visit this location. However, there are many functions of Real Estate Practice that can be done in a typical business office, that does not include meeting with clients. We are primarily a property management service, but are also licensed brokers. So if you would like to intern in what would be considered a back office operation, not a street location, there is much to learn. You can learn about BPO's, lisitngs, property management, financial management, bookkeeping, and more. As an agent you will be responsible for your own withholdings and taxes, and therefore must be knowledgeable in bookkeeping and basic accounting. You can learn these skills here, as well as be exposed to the operation of a property management office, not including dealing with any clients or transacting. This is a good place to begin before you complete your real estate license class and obtain your license. Upon completion and obtaining your license, there can also be more opportunity here as well. However, any transactions will occur in either the primary office location, or at an attorney's office.

The owner is a certified ESL teacher, and can assist you in further developing your English skills for business. You can and will improve your language skills.

Responsibilities

Data Entry of Rent Receipts and expenses, Bookkeeping, possibly researching Property data or listings that are posted on public Websites, General Office Support. Etc.

Requirements

Should be enrolled in, or seriously considering enrolling in a Real Estate Salesperson license class.
Helpful certifications, licenses and education include the Notary Public, Signing Agent, Bachelors or Masters Degrees, Some basic Accounting skills, and general business experience.
