Responsibilities•Find and document sources of historic digital photographic images using research skills, experience and capacity for lateral thought
•Apply strong research ability to obtain correct captioning and credit information
•Rename and tag a large collection of digital images using key words
•Organize, categorize and maintain large volumes of digital files
•Follow copyright and licensing guidelines to secure rights to historic images
RequirementsThe candidate for this internship should be currently enrolled as a junior or above and pursuing a degree in a university or college. Candidates with a BA or BS in in the field of Library Science or Archive Administration are also encouraged to apply.
Candidates should be a motivated and self-driven, demonstrate keen Internet research skills and an understanding of advanced search parameters and capabilities within Google. Able to apply solid analytical and problem solving capabilities, evaluate sources of information, possess strong organizational and time management, and effective verbal/written communication. The candidate should have experience working with large data sets, image renaming conventions and have some prior experience with systems of data along with the ability to analyze and interpret data. Excel experience a must.
Intern candidates should enjoy challenges and have an interest of photographic history. Knowledge of black/white and color image reproduction is a plus.
This is an unpaid internship position eligible for consideration for conversion to regular employment status. Minimum internship requirement is 8-10 hours per week. Candidate may work virtual or onsite.
