The HipKnee Arkansas Foundation (HKA) is a state-of-the-art motion analysis and research center based in Little Rock, Arkansas that integrates research in orthopedics, biomechanics, gait analysis, sports science, and motion capture. It is a nonprofit laboratory that is directed by C. Lowry Barnes, MD. HipKnee Arkansas Foundation seeks to replicate human performance ranging from walking to swinging a golf club while measuring joint motion and muscle activity. We also conduct clinical trials for investigational devices such as total knee replacement implants and clinical research to enhance surgical techniques. Our mission is to conduct research to advance our understanding of total joint replacements and improve functionality in patients who have or will require orthopedic intervention. We are also looking to expand our efforts to include athletes for purposes of increasing sports performance.


-Assist with conducting motion analysis
- Learn, understand, and be able to process data using motion analysis software (training and certification will be provided)
- Comply with CITI regulations and HKA Policies regarding clinical research trials (training and certification will be provided)
-Organize, compile, and summarize data from various sources such as gait measurements, functionality testing, study binders, and clinical data
-Communicate to both patients and staff in a professional manner
-Opportunity to accumulate observation time in the operating room


- Prefer student with prior knowledge of human anatomy and physiology
-Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
-Basic understanding of computers
-Must be able to work well both independently and as part of a team
- Perform well in environment that values compassion, helpfulness, patience, and resourcefulness
-Prefer students seeking a career in the medical profession
