The research department of Bring Back Main Street provides both the committee staff and the candidate with a variety of information ranging from issue briefs to public record research. The department specializes in framing platforms based on local concerns. We work on candidate debate preparation, policy and position papers, and building a case to take to voters based on well-documented facts.
Our research is an ongoing, rigorous process that requires hard work and attention to detail, but most of all enthusiasm for politics and public policy. Our interns can expect to help the Research Department compile databases, help track events, research events throughout the State of Illinois. Interns will also research relevant issues and policy throughout the State of Illinois. Interns will provide other research related duties as needed.
Major in political science, public affairs, public policy or related field. • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office. The internship requires a person who can represent Bring Back Main Street in a variety of settings in a professional and positive manner. Intern must be able to work with all types of people and communicate effectively. • Interest in learning more about a public affairs career in the governmental sector. • Experience in advocacy and/or political or grassroots activities a plus. • Excellent writing and editing skills. • Ability to work autonomously.
