DescriptionCalifornia Association of Mental Health Peer-Run Organizations (CAMHPRO) is an incorporated consumer-run statewide organization consisting of member entities, which are established, independent and successful consumer-run organizations. CAMHPRO's mission is "to transform communities and the mental health system throughout California to empower, support, and ensure the rights of consumers, eliminate stigma, and advance self-determination for all those affected by mental health issues by championing the work of consumer-run organizations." CAMHPRO is an independent organization finalizing its 501c(3) non-profit filing. For its development purposes CAMHPRO has executed a Memorandum of Understanding with PEERS of Alameda County for provision of technical, fiscal and contracting support. PEERS, a member organization, is a successful consumer-run non-profit with a budget over 2.5 million annually.
CAMHPRO's Empowering Consumer Communities for a Recovery-Oriented California (ECC) Administrative Intern will provide administrative support for CAMHPRO's SAMHSA Grant to empower culturally and ethnically diverse communities in mental health across the state of California. CAMHPRO's ECC intern will report and work in partnership with the Mental Health Association of San Francisco's Community Empowerment Specialist to collect, inventory, and analyze data, will provide support in outreach to potential community partners, and help develop tools and resources to empower diverse communities in mental health advocacy statewide.
ResponsibilitiesInterns will be expected to:
-Communicate regularly with Community Empowerment Specialist regarding progress of tasks.
-Work independently as needed.
-Review and organize data.
-Research potential member organizations for CAMHPRO.
-Identify potential partner organizations for initiatives focused on issues regarding Mental Health and cultural/ethnic communities throughout California.
-Provide support in developing materials for implementing Disparities Plan.
-Additional tasks as needed.
-Be able to work independently.
-Be able to analyze and document data.
-Be able to create and maintain spreadsheets.
-Have great communication skills.
-Have an eagerness to participate and contribute to a federal project.
-Can keep and maintain deadlines, even when working independently or from home.
-Have an understanding of social justice issues and civil rights.
Desired but not required:
-Have experience as a consumer of mental health services.
