DescriptionThe UWT: POICN Enhancement Project is seeking up to 2 graduate students and exceptional undergraduate students with an interest in terrorism to support the ongoing work of the Profiles of Incidents involving Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Agents by Non-state Actors database (POICN). The POICN database includes information on terrorist plots, acquisitions, and attacks relating to CBRN agents.
ResponsibilitiesThe primary purpose of the UWT: POICN Enhancement internship will be to identify and collate potential incidents meeting the database’s inclusion criteria for the period October 2016 to December 2016. In addition they will be expected to identify additional sources related to potential cases and assess them for reliability, accuracy and bias. Depending on progress in meeting the requirements of the primary task, additional tasking may become available, primarily basic coding for the POICN dataset.
RequirementsUnderstanding of open source research, social science research, Excel and Word.
Students with prior knowledge of and interest in CBRN weapons and proliferation issues are strongly encouraged to apply.
