The projects undertaken by Reel Gardening interns will add value and directly contribute to the scaling and growth of the company.

About the Company:

Based in Johannesburg, South Africa, Reel Gardening is a for profit, social enterprise that has developed a unique seed system that can be grown into a vegetable or herb garden in nearly any climate. The company has/has had business partnerships and/or work with Unilever, Richard Branson, Coca-Cola, Sappi, Exclusive Books, Total, Chartered Wealth Solutions, and others.

About the Volunteer Position:

This is a 12-18 month unpaid, volunteer position. Peace Corp volunteers are encouraged to apply. Housing/accommodations, living stipend and travel expenses are expected to be shouldered by the candidate or sponsoring organization.

Timeline:

Reel Gardening will accept applications on a rolling basis, however interviews (Skype or Google Hangout) for this position as early as May 19 and May 20. Start date will be determined by Reel Gardening and the selected candidate.

Responsibilities

Scope of Work:

Reel Gardening will be working in partnership with SABC 2 Education to launch The Planting Revolution Campaign. This Campaign will see 26 Roadshows, featuring a number of South African celebrities, around the country over the course of about a year. Each Roadshow will target a number of schools and seek to educate learners about the benefits of joining the planting revolution.

Reel Gardening requires a dynamic volunteer to assist with the management and logistics of these roadshows and ensure that the Reel gardening brand is properly represented.

This campaign will see one million children engaging with an interactive app that collects valuable information for Reel Gardening, as well as coordinating the distribution of prizes. The candidate will need to: 1) Coordinate the logistics around the distribution of prizes and management of the Reel Gardening elements of the campaign; and 2) Manage all the data collected by the apps and present statistics that Reel Gardening can use to improve the campaign and structure future campaigns.
