DescriptionWe are seeking an energetic, outgoing, service oriented individual to help the TOCO Shop and further the mission of TOCO NFP. The Assistant Manager will be responsible for store operations when the Store Manager is off site or otherwise engaged in TOCO business. In addition, the Assistant Manager will be vital in the training of new hires and volunteers. We are seeking a candidate with prior retail and thrift store experience with a focus on excellent customer service. We are also seeking a candidate willing to work weekends and one addition weekly shift at either our Belleville, Illinois or Cherokee Street St. Louis locations.
TOCO has developed two of their most ambitious programs: The TOCO Shop and TOCO Textile Pantry which have served thousands of families over the past six years out of the headquarters at 825 West Main Street in Belleville, Illinois. Through referrals from community members, schools, churches, and service agencies, TOCO Shop and Textile Pantry provide subsidized and free material support (clothing, shoes, and housewares) to children and families. Year round they also operate the Backpack Outreach serving the marginalized population in the area. Last year TOCO served over 1385 families through Textile Pantry services. Last year the TOCO Shop served an estimated 7400 families.
ResponsibilitiesAssist the Store Manager with over all store functions.
Accurately handling cash including serving as head cashier, bank deposits, register functions
Manage the flow of donated goods.
Participate in training of new staff members.
Supervise and staff volunteers
Assist on sales floor with customers.
Engage customers regarding mission and vision of TOCO.
Help maintain cleanliness of store and facility.
Talent to visualize and display product to its fullest potential.
Knowledge to identify high end and valuable products to ascertain value.
Capabilities to problem solve and make sound decisions.
Capacity to work and grow in a fast paced, ever changing work environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Follow guidelines for the TOCO Textile Pantry (clothing house ware pantry for the community)
