Canyon News is located in the heart of Beverly Hills but covers the areas of Bel Air, Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Los Feliz, Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Santa Monica, Sherman Oaks, Studio City, West Hollywood, Westwood and all the Hollywood Hills. Adjudicated since 2004 as the only newspaper of general circulation cover the hills of Los Angeles, Canyon News is uniquely based on the Declaration of Principles, abiding by a no bias rule. The newspaper staff does not allow politics or any special interest to interfere with the truth of the news. We also welcome interns for our sister newspaper, The San Francisco News.
96% of current staff were hired from the internship program. We teach a unique business model as you will learn to work as a team yet independently. All individuals are treated as an equal member of the team regardless of your newness or lack of knowledge in the field. We have a diverse staff and welcome people from all areas. Some managers are fluent in ASL (American Sign Language) to communicate with our deaf and hard of hearing staff.

This position entails our sales rep working closely with customers face to face, outside of the courthouse handing out flyers and signing up clients to publish their DBAs. You will be expected to close sales quickly and efficiently. We also expect you to develop a quick rapport with customers. Your duties will include:
-Seeking out customers who have filed DBAs with the registrar’s office and who need to publish within the specified time frame
-Informing customers about the various services Canyon News offers
-Taking orders and handling payments
-Staying in communication with management during your work shift (via phone or AOL IM)
-Turning in paperwork at the end of your shift each day
-Reliable transportation to and from the courthouse each day
-Ability to work during the week Mon-Friday between the hours of 8:30am-3:30pm
This position is commission-based. You will receive 40% on orders that you close at the courthouse. A 20% commission is paid on any call-ins or unauthorized orders that you receive. There is opportunity for complete independence and room to grow quickly up our company ladder. We are looking for applicants who are tenacious, driven and go-getters.

There are three types of internships available: 15 week, 26 week or 52 week. We offer home internships for those with interest in becoming part of our team, yet without the resources to travel to the Beverly Hills office. Interns who successfully complete the program will receive school credit, references, potential job opportunity and a stipend which is based on performance evaluation to help with tuition, books and school materials) awarded upon completion of the internship program. Staff positions are offered to all outstanding team players.
