DescriptionHelicopter Links is located in Hillcrest, in San Diego, California, USA. International students have first priority. A minimum of two international students is required to intern, if working in-house, at Helicopter Links. (If working remotely, there is no minimum number of interns required for international students.) This job is an unpaid in-house (or remote) internship and is available immediately.
(Our location is about a 5 minute car drive north from the city of San Diego to Hillcrest or about a 15 minute bus ride. From our location, it is a 7-10 minute walk south to get to the San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park. Hillcrest has many restaurants, four grocery stores, several pharmacies and has public transportation. In Ocean Beach, there is a small but well-stocked all organic/sustainable grocery store called Ocean Beach People's Organic Food Market. All stores in Hillcrest have organic produce and products. From Hillcrest, the beaches are a ten minute car drive to the west. If traveling by bicycle from Hillcrest to the ocean, a one-way trip is about one hour. We have paved bike trails that take you right to the beaches
Several advantages of this internship. 1) Interns will have the experience of working closely with a business owner. 2) We provide on-the-job training, so experience is not required. 3) For those interns who are new to the business world, the owner will mentor interns and help prepare interns for working in the business world. 3a) A few mentoring topics include: A work-life balance. Should one work at a small, medium or large company? How to give oneself a raise when the boss won't. When should one look for another job. How does one leave a job? How does one survive politics at work? We also mentor on personal life topics and the importance of science in one's life. 4) If the intern applies themselves and works in a professional manner, the intern will have a business referral from a small business owner to add to their resume (curriculum vitae) and the intern can also list as having worked at Helicopters Links on their resume (CV).
The intern will learn telephone etiquette for answering and making out-going phone calls. We will train the intern on several key points to help them become a successful sales person. Interns will also learn what a fair paying sales position job is and what sales jobs to avoid. We will also teach all inside sales people about pricing theory and how to set a price for a retail product. (Even though we are not a retail store or a manufacturer, we have former experience in determining retail sales prices.) Several traits needed for a good sales person is having a good attitude, knowledge in math, hard working attitude, good note taking, perseverance, able to speak nicely over the phone (and in person), knowledge in writing and getting along with people.
We are a LGBT (Lesbian, gay, Bisexual, Transgender), equal rights and human rights friendly company. College students to retired welcome!
