DescriptionDiscount Furniture Spots (DFS) produces TV and radio commercials for the retail furniture, mattress and home goods industries. We're a division of CF Creative, a mature corporate communication and corporate video production company based in Pompano Beach, Florida. DFS's key differentiator: we produce high-quality, broadcast-ready commercials (no need for customers to re-format them) for just $799, at least $300 less than what most production houses charge.
What we need: We just sent out mass mails and email blasts to our 3K+-member database of furniture stores and we're looking for interns to help us make cold calls to generate leads and sales. Working remotely, you'll make calls to domestic US furniture stores, from a Google Voice number (accessed online through our Google Voice account, which routes calls to your landline or cell phone, so that the caller ID shows the name of our company to call recipients). We would like to dial into these companies starting immediately and for the next 2-3 months.
How: Interns will learn our proposed call script and how to communicate our solutions, company history and key differentiators in a natural, conversational, engaging way. You will keep track of the daily dials you make, including call details (comments, outcomes, next steps), by using our spreadsheet, which includes client contact information. Interns will submit daily dial reports so we can assess next steps per client, and also determine what leads and sales will lead to your payment. Our proposed payment plan is commission-based: we're offering $10 per lead that results in a sale, and $25 for each sale.
What: Leads are defined as an opportunity you have scoped using the BANT criteria: you have identified that the customer has a Budget (B) for the project, you've spoken to the Authority (A) figure in the company (the decision maker or part of the decision-making team), you have identified that there is a Need (N) for our solutions (produce TV or radio commercials), and that the potential client has disclosed that they would like to implement our solutions within a determined Timeframe (T). After the dials, we expect you to send in your dial report so we can determine if a) this is a lead, or b) this is a sale. We will pay each outcome accordingly and on a weekly basis, via check, wire transfer or Paypal, you will invoice us accordingly.
We firmly believe that this experience with business development, utilizing a BANT criteria, dealing with the intricacies of creating a need and identifying a potential lead, will offer interns in the sales, marketing and business development fields an unique insight into what makes an effective sales call and approach. Subsequently, interns will learn warm transitions of opportunities.

ResponsibilitiesDaily calls into our proprietary database. Expectation is to make at least 5-10 calls per day.
Input call outcomes into your Call Log. Submit the Call Log on a daily basis.
We will review leads and sales on Fridays and process payment that same day. If you opt in to be paid via PayPal, SurePay (from Wells Fargo to your bank) or wire transfer, you will be paid on Fridays. If you opt in for a check, we will mail them out on Friday by end of day, and depending on your location, you will receive your check in a few business days.
RequirementsExperience with cold calling and/or business development calls.
Must know how to manipulate filtered Excel sheets and input simple data.
Clear, formal conversational tone.
Must follow a script as a guideline, but should speak naturally, confidently and with knowledge of our production process and expertise.
Access to internet (for Google voice), Microsoft Office, Google tools, Office for Mac or Numbers on your proprietary computer or device.
Mobile phone with unlimited domestic (US) calls.
We may have a stretch assignment to dial into Canadian accounts, and we will offer Google Voice credits for those who are interested in supporting us with that region.
