Description

The Coastal Watershed Council (CWC) is a non-profit agency whose mission is to preserve and protect coastal watersheds through community stewardship, education and monitoring. CWC founded the San Lorenzo River Alliance, a coalition made up of environmental organizations, local government and partners in arts and business organizations, to transform Santa Cruz County’s relationship with its largest watershed from one of apathy and disdain to one of respect, recreation, and restoration. Our office is located in the beautiful Santa Cruz Yacht Harbor.

Coastal Watershed Council runs various monitoring programs throughout the year to teach citizen scientists about watershed health and collect valuable water quality data.

Responsibilities

The Water Quality Monitoring Program Intern assists with monitoring events and water quality studies conducted by the Coastal Watershed Council and help with continuous San Lorenzo Riverwalk Usage study. The CWC Water Quality Monitoring Intern will assist with all aspects of the program, including: collecting samples and data on site, equipment calibration, volunteer recruitment, data entry. Interns will also assist with restoration and River Health Day events of Coastal Watershed Council.

Requirements

Strong interest in environmental preservation and protection, Microsoft Office, strong written and verbal communications skills, attention to detail, team-player.
