Join one of the nations largest and most-respected microenterprise training organizations for an intensive Fellowship. Fellows will be accepted as part of a cohort that will help respond to the national crisis and economic downturn by helping low-income women start their own businesses and build their own financial security. Be part of the real change movement!
Our Organization
For more than 20 years, Womens Initiative has been providing low-income women throughout the Bay Area with the training, funding and ongoing support to start their own business and become economically self sufficient. In English and in Spanish, women conquer their fears of success, complete a business plan, learn technology, access capital, and meet influential and experienced business people who can help them succeed. The women who go through our program significantly increase their income and assets while launching businesses, creating jobs and stimulating the local economy. In 2009 alone, Womens Initiative graduates created 2,244 jobs in the Bay Area.
The Opportunity
Womens Initiative is pleased to offer the Microenterprise Fellows Program. This is a unique opportunity for recent college graduates and seasoned professionals alike to develop leadership skills in microenterprise development, microfinance, nonprofit management, evaluation techniques and social equality with the nations largest microenterprise organization.
Microenterprise Fellows dedicate 10 weeks of service to Womens Initiative. The Winter 2011 program begins on January 24, 2011. Depending on interest and experience, Fellows will contribute their skills in the areas listed under "Responsibilities".
