The Robert Berman Gallery has been in business in Santa Monica, California since 1979. One of the first galleries to be located at Bergamot Station Arts Center, it has occupied two exhibition spaces there for the last thirteen years. Founder and owner Robert Berman was early on in exhibiting artists such as Keith Haring and Raymond Pettibon and has done historical and seminal exhibitions by such artists as William S. Burroughs and Man Ray. The gallery has a rotating exhibition schedule specializing in mid-career and established artists in all mediums.

You will be assisting in the instruction during a brief training period, and then ultimately leading these once-a-week classes with at least one other (could be a friend (or more) if you choose!) The goals of our classes are to help people explore what it is like to be an artist, think like an artist, and feel like an artist, and of course...just have fun. This is achieved by allowing our students to make their own decisions as to what they will be creating. I always say 'I have never told anyone WHAT to create...I only help them understand HOW to do it, and to feel the freedom to do so." The position does not require any prior experience in teaching, and only very basic familiarity with art in general. I have created a step by step general class outline which will act as a very useful tool.
