We have hosted eight exhibitions at Eclipse to date (through Feb. 2011), which included a wide variety of mediums and artists from across the country. We are interested in not only breaking common stereotypes in the art world, but also in bridging the gap between fine art, craft, and design. The Eclipse Gallery has developed an ever-growing number of patrons that live in the area, along with visitors from other parts of the nation and world. For example, Algoma now has a monthly gallery/studio tour, the Algoma Art Wave, which is bringing in more people to support the arts in Algoma, and encouraging more artists in the area to be visible. ABOUT DISCOVERY THEATER The Smithsonian's Discovery Theater is dedicated to offering the best in live performance for young people that celebrate the rich diversity of our region and our world. Each season we tap into the vast resources of the Smithsonian Institution to present relevant, culturally accurate entertaining programs. We offer dozens of interactive productions that feature puppets, storytellers, dancers, actors, musicians, and even mimes! INTERN DUTIES Assist with various aspects of the technical side of theater. Throughout the semester, there will opportunities to learn and assist in some the following areas: stage management, assistant direction, sound, lighting, props & costumes. Intern will participate actively in running and preparing for both produced and presented shows for Discovery Theater. May also be called on to assist in office duties, daily operations, artist communication, and hospitality. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES The tech intern will receive basic knowledge of how the technical aspects of a theater work as well as insight into the administrative side of technical theater. Possible training that may be offered includes SFX, sound & light boards, basic sound editing, sound and lighting design. Things you should have experience with already: Designing User Interfaces and web sites. Proficiency in both HTML and Flash. Proficiency in Mac OS, FTP and Adobe Creative Suite. Working knowledge of Wordpress. Interns must commit to at least two days per week. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-6pm. Internships are available for course credit. This Internship has the possibility of full time hire upon completion.

My work is primarily as a fashion and B/W fine art photographer currently featuring hand made steel body ornaments in the images. My steel work has oddly developed into a line of jewelry, custom commissioned props, lighting fixtures and furniture which has been placed in stores and shows in L.A. and Venice. Everything from working with visiting clients and gallery contacts, brain storming and designing projects, managing the studio, even learning to weld is a possibility. There is a lot going on... Some projects are paid.

Nka Foundation is an NGO run by artists and volunteers in Ghana and Burkina Faso. In rural Ghana, we are building a community for the arts, a living learning arts village designed to bring together creative persons from around the world to interact with the local community via projects such as community architecture, community arts and social services to improve local livelihood skills to alleviate poverty.
