Design and Art Social Media Intern

Alfalfa Studio, an award winning branding and graphic design studio, is seeking interns for its social media desk. The purpose is to engage our readers on social media platforms and innovate forms of journalism via the studios blog. Alfalfa Studio Blog is dedicated to sharing creative inspiration from the worlds of graphic design, art, photography, architecture, literature, music, fashion, technology and culture from New York City and around the world. Tasks will include: sparking conversations on Alfalfa Studios social media accounts including Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Tumblr and Instagram as well as assisting on social media projects and providing general support. Produce original, compelling digital content that is relevant for the art and design community The intern will be responsible for writing and editing at least two blog entries per week as well as editing and coordinating with various blog contributors. The intern will work closely with the social media editors as well as designers, studio managers and art directors. Candidates should understand the journalistic opportunities presented by social media. The intern will gain technical experience working with HTML, Photoshop and WordPress. Experience in blogging preferred. You should also have an excellent eye for detail and great instincts for spotting new trends in design, art, culture, fashion, technology and lifestyle. Since 1995, chashama has championed the movement to re-purpose vacant properties in New York City; recycling them into temporary artist studios and gallery spaces, while simultaneously invigorating the surrounding community landscape with an influx of culture, creativity and business. The intern in Development and Special Events will work with our Development Director to assist in managing our grants calendar and may be asked to assist with the preparation of grants. Responsibilities include research for government, foundation, corporate and individual funders; data entry; support of special events; and general department administrative support. The intern in Arts Programming will assist the Program Director with the management of the visual artists-in-residence at chashama; will help to coordinate special events, open studio events, and special exhibitions; will assist with the programming in our exhibition spaces; will assist with the windows program, chashamas hallmark storefront window performance art program; will assist in the promotion of the visual & Performance arts program in the arts community; and will help with general office duties. The administrative intern will assist with the day to day running of the office. They will also help to plan and organize our annual fall gala as well as other fundraising and promotional events throughout the year. We are also looking for interns for our chashama film festival as well as interns with graphic design or IT/Networking experience!

Web Design Internship

Art Official Media is a media company that publishes a wide range of books, magazines, and digital products for the consumer and education markets. We specialize in producing and distributing content highly relevant to an urban market. Interns will be provided with the opportunity to participate in work related assignments, gain practical virtual work experience, and network with authors/publishers from various genres. Overall, the intern will become familiar with the basic structure of a publishing house and the role of each department within. The Art Official Media publishing program is available for students currently enrolled in a college or university, who aspire to pursue a career in the publishing industry. Internships are anticipated to start Feb. 9 and will continue through May 9. However, there may be some flexibility in regards to the duration of the internship, if needed. Only part-time virtual internships (video /production located in Baltimore) are available at this time. All of our internships are unpaid.
