Oceans of Fun is a marine mammal facility located within the Milwaukee County Zoo. Since 1991, Oceans of Fun has cared for California sea lions and harbor seals while providing educational presentations and interactive programs to Wisconsin families. We are dedicated to the field of marine mammal science and education. It is our goal to provide the best possible environment, training and care for our marine animals with the focus of educating the public about marine life, environmental protection and conservation. Oceans of Fun offers a variety of opportunities for children and families alike to discover the amazing world of seals and sea lions. We provide a wide array of interactive programs, allowing visitors to connect with our animals personally and offer volunteer and internship positions for individuals interested in a career in marine mammal care and education. Oceans of Fun is actively interviewing for fall, winter, spring and summer internship positions. Our programs teach individuals how to be an animal care and environmental specialist. Learn about animal diets, facility care, animal training, medical programs, and assist our staff in educating the public about how to care for the environment. Oceans of Fun is a globally recognized leader in the field of marine mammal care and training. We receive internship and volunteer applications from around the world. Our internship programs have been designed to provide participants with valuable experience in a wide variety of activities that occur throughout a trainer's day.

Habitat Restoration Internship

Position: Habitat Restoration Internship Reports to: Coastal Ecologist Location: Bay Center, Providence, RI Dates: 2-4 positions a year Summer: May August 2013 Time commitment: One day per week minimum About the Internship Position: Save The Bay seeks a highly motivated individual to support Save The Bay's Habitat Protection and Restoration Program in the implementation and coordination of community based habitat restoration projects. Duties include conducting research, field monitoring, database management, and planning associated with the restoration of Narragansett Bay habitats. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to have a hands-on role in ecological restoration efforts. Interns will gain an understanding of applied ecological restoration techniques, field monitoring protocols, and environmental problem solving techniques. Interns will also gain experience working with volunteers and collaborating with community organizations. Compensation/Scheduling/Additional Requirements: Save The Bay Internships are unpaid, but are available for college credit. Save The Bay will work with your university to ensure that all steps are taken to fulfill any credit requirements. All Save The Bay Interns are also required to work at the Save The Bay Swim. Stormwater Campaign Internship

Position: Stormwater Campaign Internship Reports to: South County COASTKEEPER® Location: Save The Bay South County Office, Westerly, RI Dates: May August 2013 About the Internship Position: Save The Bay seeks a highly motivated individual to support Save The Bay's South County Coast initiative. The position will serve as an assistant to the South County COASTKEEPER®, working on stormwater research primarily in the southern part of the state, but also throughout the state. Duties include conducting research, field monitoring, database management, and planning associated with our local waters. Compensation/Scheduling/Additional Requirements: Save The Bay Internships are unpaid, but are available for college credit. Save The Bay will work with your university to ensure that all steps are taken to fulfill any credit requirements. South County Coast Internship is a minimum of 14 hours a week (2 days), but additional days may be added to fulfill any university course/credit requirements. All Save The Bay Interns are also required to work at the Save The Bay Swim. You will need to be available on Saturday, July 20 from 7 am to 2 pm. Audience Research & Evaluation Internship- Summer 2013

Internship Title: Audience Research & Evaluation Internship Internship Department: Audience Research and Evaluation Department Objective: The Audience Research and Evaluation team is looking for an intern(s) who is interested in how a large cultural institution like Shedd Aquarium identifies and studies its audience and how it produces world-renowned exhibits and programs. Responsibilities: Interns assist in conducting evaluations and research related to guests, exhibits and programs at Shedd Aquarium. This process, in large part, includes gathering guest feedback though surveys and questionnaires, understanding guest choices by observation/tracking and gaining in-depth information by interviewing guests. Interns may serve in the following roles: A. Data analyst: The intern will be involved in database management, preparation of data for analysis and analyzing data using both quantitative and qualitative methods, as well as assisting with data collection, data entry, and writing and presenting results. B. Field evaluator: The intern will be involved in preparing and managing materials for data collection, collecting data (exit surveys, exhibit surveys, observations, etc.), entering data, and maintaining records and reports. Final Product(s): Social science field experience; completion of data analysis; writing evaluation report(s) of various exhibits and programs, as they relate to the Shedd Aquariums audience. Qualifications: The Audience Research and Evaluation team needs a motivated, self-starter with excellent communication skills who can work in teams and independently. A friendly, optimistic attitude and energetic personality is a must. Candidate needs to have good attention to detail; able to work within tight timelines and in a busy environment. Experience with quantitative and qualitative data analysis a plus. Must be comfortable approaching guests for interviews and questionnaires; able to stand and move quickly through the public areas of the building, including stairs, for several hours. Computer proficiency including intermediate knowledge of Microsoft office (Excel and Word); experience with SPSS preferred. Experience conducting literature searches and writing literature reviews and/or annotated bibliographies
