We are a new age, New Media Company with several entities under our umbrella, but are presently looking for journalism interns for our latest effort. This has proven to be successful in the past with some of our former interns, because many had been local non-related to their major jobs in their hometown, while also interning. We do ask that you get college-credits for this exciting internship. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR: Our ideal candidate would be journalism major, and would be well-versed in a variety of genres and topics. The candidate must be an extremely good writer; outgoing, reliable and not star struck. You will also conduct phone interviews with artists, so you must have experience in this area, or willing to learn. QUALIFICATIONS: -Preferably, a sophomore or higher in an accredited college. While we do believe in giving people their first chance, we would have to get a feel for the person if they are not at least a sophomore in college -2.5 or better grade-point average -Must be able to work very well independently -Must be outgoing, ambitious, self-starter, innovative and willing to learn. -If you are applying for a PR, editorial, social media or journalism internship you must be great at writing and communicating. POSITION SUMMARY The Communications Department handles external communications for AmeriCares, including media relations, reports and written materials, branding and messaging to the general public. The department generates digital and printed marketing material, press releases, media pitches, speeches and talking points, social media and video with the ultimate goal of raising awareness and promoting the organization. The communications department also ensures organization-wide consistency of brand and message. The Communications Intern will support the department in all aspects of its strategic function. The intern will get a first-hand look at how a large international aid organization promotes and maintains its public identity. The core of the position will involve maintaining department-wide organization and records, as well as assisting with messaging through writing and design assignments. We're a fast growing company working with some of the largest brands and retailers in the world. We a work hard, play hard casual office and are hiring one Public Relations intern to work out of our Ferndale, MI office. Our products include consumer electronics (gadgets) and mobile phone applications. We're looking for someone with some serious hustle and in return, well help you get into the PR game and even help you out with your portfolio/resume. The public relations intern will be responsible for pitching press, distributing news, tracking coverage and otherwise assisting the public relations department. This is an entry-level position in the company reporting to the Brand Manager as part of the Livio team and interacting with public relations professionals involved with Pandora, NPR and Grooveshark. Immediately youll be reaching out to our media contacts with the goal of securing coverage for our company and products. Must be flexible to work nights and weekends.
