Software Engineering, Software Entrepreneurship and Open-Source Software Interns will report directly to the President & CTO of The Veloz Group and will play leading roles on live Veloz technology ventures. Accordingly, Engineering Interns will sharply develop their programming skills through real-world, hands-on experience and application, as well as high-level mentorship. Software Engineering Interns will be responsible for designing and developing new technology for existing Veloz businesses. Interns will also play leading roles in the launch of new technology start-up companies, where projects can range from developing web crawlers and financial applications; to building interactive websites and data mining software; to designing search engines and e-commerce portals. Interns will receive exposure to rapid application development, front-end and back-end web design, system architecture and administration, command-line Linux and shell scripting, cloud computing, SQL and NoSQL databases, and a variety of programming languages and frameworks. Software Entrepreneurship Interns will divide their time between software engineering projects and activities related to the business, management and entrepreneurial components of technology start-up companies. Interns will work with the business team to develop new features, business plans and strategies for technology-related businesses, while serving on the engineering team during implementation. Interns will also play leading roles in the launch of new start-up companies, and will gain exposure to the entire process of developing a technology idea into a prototype and then ultimately into a company. Open-Source Software Interns will be responsible for extending and designing open-source software used by various Veloz businesses. Interns will have the opportunity to spearhead the development of new features across a variety of FOSS projects, where they will work with both Veloz engineers and members of the greater open-source community. Projects can range from adding option-dependant inventory tracking to an open-source e-commerce platform; to adding advanced ticket customization to an open-source task tracker; to creating a new open-source document backup system; to developing an instant search suggestion feature for an open-source search framework. The Field/Ops Intern (Intern) will be involved with a number of activities relating to Syncromatics services and support for our clients. During the course of the internship, the Intern will learn and be intimately involved with the following key areas: Syncromatics systems for customer support ticketing o The Intern will help facilitate the installation and configuration of a new, integrated system and support the switchover. Syncromatics technology o The Intern will need to learn and understand many aspects of the companys hardware and software products in order to properly support the Field/Ops team o The Intern may have the opportunity to work in the field alongside our team on new installations or troubleshooting. Customer Support o The Intern will provide direct support to the Field/Ops team and assist them with hardware provisioning, firmware updating, customer ticketing/support, RMA support and data management. o The Intern may handle tasks like drawing new customer routes, pulling raw data and prepping it for clients or properly formatting schedule data. The key thing is this: the Intern will be doing real work and working side-by-side with the rest of the operations team. The Intern will NOT be doing things like getting coffee or picking up lunch.
