Position: Habitat Restoration Internship Reports to: Coastal Ecologist Location: Bay Center, Providence, RI Dates: 2-4 positions a year Summer: May August 2013 Time commitment: One day per week minimum About the Internship Position: Save The Bay seeks a highly motivated individual to support Save The Bay's Habitat Protection and Restoration Program in the implementation and coordination of community based habitat restoration projects. Duties include conducting research, field monitoring, database management, and planning associated with the restoration of Narragansett Bay habitats. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to have a hands-on role in ecological restoration efforts. Interns will gain an understanding of applied ecological restoration techniques, field monitoring protocols, and environmental problem solving techniques. Interns will also gain experience working with volunteers and collaborating with community organizations. Compensation/Scheduling/Additional Requirements: Save The Bay Internships are unpaid, but are available for college credit. Save The Bay will work with your university to ensure that all steps are taken to fulfill any credit requirements. All Save The Bay Interns are also required to work at the Save The Bay Swim. The Open Science Data Cloud PIRE project provides international research and education experiences through training and study at universities and research institutes around the world with leading scientists in the field of computing. Our goal is to increase the participants with expertise in managing and analyzing data. The creation of a strong cadre of researchers with a global perspective on scientific data management will support research endeavors in many other areas vital to the US. International Collaboration. OSDC PIRE Training Workshops: 1-week workshops to train OSDC PIRE researchers in data intensive computing and introduce them to research topics. OSDC PIRE Supported International Research Experience: 6-8-week summer FULLY FUNDED fellowships at collaborator sites for graduate students to participate in sophisticated international research collaborations. Teams will be developing and doing research in cloud-based services & applications.
