Job Description:


The Summer Intern will work in the MQ Systems Programming (MQSP) department.  The MQSP team has responsibility for the design, configuration, monitoring and support of all Websphere MQ environments with additional support of the FUSE Integration Broker.  The student will be responsible for the following:



  • Leverage mySQL and Java for monitoring of production messaging instances.

  • Good knowledge of Java-XML to support FUSE Integration Broker Environment

  • Managerial/Leadership work activities

    • Attend technical/business meetings generate meeting summaries

    • Create new and update existing configuration/support documentation



  • Enhance Sharepoint site connecting to various backend databases to provide users with custom reports of their messaging environments

  • Weekly data mining and analysis of:

    • Environment Alerts

    • Problem Management Logs

    • Performance statistics

    • Enhance Department Reporting




The successfulIntern will have worked with or have experience in:



  • Strong JAVA, JMX, XML coding skills

  • Intermediate to advanced MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Access and Excel) skills

  • Knowledge of MySQL(SQL\Oracle)

  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills

  • Good knowledge of client /server architecture and messaging concepts and  technology

  • Strong analytical and communication skills both oral and written


TheSummer Intern must be able to work 32-40 during the summer (generally May through August).


Knowledge and Skills:



  • Intermediate Java, JMX programming skillset

  • Knowledgeable on Object Oriented design

  • Microsoft Office Suite Intermediate to Advanced (Word, PowerPoint, Access and Excel)

  • Good Technical Troubleshooting, Analytical and Communication Skills both verbal and written

  • Ability to work well within a large team, be a good team player.

  • Leadership skills Positive attitude, take charge mentality and good organizational skills

  • Good working knowledge of Linux shell programming (BASH and PERL).

  • Intermediate knowledge of MySQL.


Education:


The Summer Intern must be currently enrolled in a degreed college/university program working toward a degree in Computer Science or related discipline.

The Summer Intern will work in the Mainframe Capacity Planning department.  The Mainframe Capacity Planning team is responsible for future designs, configurations and support of all Mainframe Processors in the Ramapo and Windward Datacenters.   The student will be responsible for the following:



  • Leverage MS Access or SQL for database creation and management

  • Expected to update & create reports using ACCESS, SQL, & EXCEL or Web development.

  • Good knowledge of pulling data from databases and being able to automate reports

  • Managerial/Leadership work activities

    • Attend technical/business meetings generate meeting summaries

    • Create new and update existing configuration/support documentation



  • Help create and update Share point site connecting to various backend databases

    • Run reports based on the information in the databases




The successful Intern will have worked with or have experience in:



  • Intermediate to advanced MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Access and Excel) skills

  • Knowledge of SQL and SQL Programming

  • Visual Basic Programing

  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills

  • Good knowledge of computers and servers

  • Strong analytical and communication skills both oral and written

  • Web development Cold Fusion or ASP knowledge a plus
