Chapter Leader - REACT to FILM College Action Network

Do you like documentary film? Interested in social change? Fascinated by the film industry? Looking to inspire your peers and make a difference? The REACT to FILM College Action Network aims to expose, engage, and inspire young people around critical social issues. Launched in the fall of 2011, the College Action Network started out at about 10 colleges. Due to the overwhelmingly positive response, we currently have 27 chapters across the country, and are looking to expand to up to 50 chapters by the fall of 2012. College Action Network Chapter Leaders will be responsible for planning screening events featuring REACT to FILMs social issue based documentaries. In the 2011-2012 academic year, we screened Hell and Back Again, Miss Representation, The Last Mountain, Sing Your Song, The Tsunami and the Cherry Blossom, and Living for 32. Each event aims to draw a large crowd, and uses an important social issue based documentary as the means for getting students to be more engaged in the issues facing themselves and others worldwide. Screenings are followed by a guest speaker (often film director or producer) or a panel discussion. REACT to FILM frequently uses Livestream technology to connect multiple colleges in the network for interactive video Q&As. The Professional Level Skills Attained: ·Networking, outreach, and public relations ·Organizational strategies and tecniques ·Oral and written communication ·Event planning and logistics ·Social media, webinar, and live stream experience Applications for student chapter leaders will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
