We are looking for a brilliant video artist to film our documentaries, Urban Youth Summits, community events with celebrities and go on location shoots with us to cover prestigious fun events. We will pay a stipend for tapes, shooting and editing.

The REACT to FILM College Action Network aims to expose, engage, and inspire young people around critical social issues. Launched in the fall of 2011, the College Action Network started out at about 10 colleges. Due to the overwhelmingly positive response, we currently have 27 chapters across the country, and are looking to expand to up to 50 chapters by the fall of 2012. College Action Network Chapter Leaders will be responsible for planning screening events featuring REACT to FILMs social issue based documentaries. In the 2011-2012 academic year, we screened Hell and Back Again, Miss Representation, The Last Mountain, Sing Your Song, The Tsunami and the Cherry Blossom, and Living for 32. Each event aims to draw a large crowd, and uses an important social issue based documentary as the means for getting students to be more engaged in the issues facing themselves and others worldwide. Screenings are followed by a guest speaker (often film director or producer) or a panel discussion. REACT to FILM frequently uses Livestream technology to connect multiple colleges in the network for interactive video Q&As. The program will be broken down into 10 weeks with required 3 days per week and 6 hours per day. The intern must be currently enrolled at a University or College part-time or full-time. This internship does not have to be for credit, but can be if the intern requests to do so. The program will focus on 3 primary aspects of the interns responsibilities: 1. Casting Assistant a. The intern will learn how print, commercial, film, and theatrical auditions are held. b. The intern will learn how to operate associated software to smoothly run a casting session. c. A minimum of 30 hours is required. 2. Office Assistant a. The intern will learn how the back office operates in a casting agency: i. Agency and Client relations ii. Scheduling of auditions iii. Marketing of a successful Casting Agency iv. Answering and forwarding calls to the appropriate staff members b. A minimum of 30 hours is required. 3. Talent Relations a. The intern will greet and check-in all talent arriving for their audition. b. The intern will prep the check-in station with size cards and sign-in sheets. c. Answering and forwarding calls to the appropriate staff members. d. A minimum of 30 hours is required. 4. Flexible a. The intern will choose the remaining 90 hours to focus on what they wish to be involved with in the industry. b. These hours will include the training days of the above 3 fields. c. These hours can be used to shadow any of the staff or get industry specific advice from the staff. d. These hours can be delegated from the staff if necessary.

Who we are: The Institute for Human and Community Development (IHCD) is a Haitian non-profit organization that has served over 800 children living in slavery (knowns as "restaveks"), servitude, abject poverty, and dislocation since 1999. IHCD's mission is to integrate extremely marginalized children into mainstream Haitian society through the provision of a holistic package of educational, nutritional, social, and community services. Documentary Film Project: IHCD has partnered with experienced film makers to create an original documentary focusing on the personalities, hopes and dreams of ten of our students. This is a nonprofit project aiming to raise awareness for a social justice cause. Interns will gain experience and a credit on the film, but will not be compensated monetarily. UPDATE: The film makers will be entering this work into a competition and this means we are acutely in need of help from volunteer translators immediately. Available Positions: We are seeking post-production interns to help with logging and transcribing. Interns will mostly work independently; we will send you footage and a template to get started, and you can send back logs and scripts to us. We plan on continuing shooting interviews in NYC, and there will be a chance to get involved for those shoots as well.
