Clinton, the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to strengthening integrated health systems around the world and expanding access to care and treatment for HIV/AIDS, malaria and other illnesses. Within Zimbabwe, CHAI is working to prevent the transmission of HIV from mother to child (PMTCT) by ensuring that the healthcare system is able to provide mothers and children with access to the full cascade of prevention services at all stages of transmission risk. The program objectives are to introduce and roll out Option A as per WHO 2010 recommendations for PMTCT and support the provision of ART in MCH/ANC settings. The Clinical Mentors will provide embedded mentorship directly to primary health centers and district hospitals towards the goal of self-sufficient and self-sustaining HIV/AIDS care and treatment centers. The clinical mentors will work side by side with clinical staff to establish and/or improve the quality of HIV prevention, care, and treatment services as well as increase the efficiency of HIV clinic management. To that end, the AF Public Health Intern supports the Chapter's community programs including Programs for Better Living (4 physical activity programs); public health education and outreach; and fundraising/development activities. The Development Department is responsible for executing fundraising and educational events (2 Arthritis Walks, California Coast Classic bike tour, Jingle Bell Run/Walk, Bone & Joint EXPO, Fashion Show, etc.).
